(More customer reviews)Overall the bag is decent quality but I expected more for the $120 price, as I said with the zips, snaps and shell, time will tell. However it does not do all it claims to do, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 3 stars. To me this is an $80 bag at best, another reason for 2 rather than 3 stars.
I looked at several drag bags before choosing this one, including MOLLE brand, Blackhawk and Eagle Industries bags. Reviews of MOLLE bags seemed to agree on one thing, the zippers failed. Blackhawk & Eagle both have great, high quality bags, but were both over my current budget. I have equipment from both Eagle & Blackhawk and I know they make high quality gear, but obviously you pay for that quality. I am not going into the field with this bag, I simply need something to carry all of my gear to the range conveniently. So I felt my needs could be served by a lower end bag.
If you go to VooDoo Tactical's website they show 5 gun cases for sale, four of which are MOLLE brand cases, only the "Enhanced Military Style Sniper Rifle Drag Bag" (this one) is listed as being from VooDoo Tactical. It does differ from the MOLLE brand drag bag found elsewhere, but could simply be MOLLE brand trying to rebrand their stuff, I don't know. The issue is that MOLLE is both a brand and a system for attaching accessories to military gear. So just because they say MOLLE doesn't mean it's made by MOLLE brand. However if it says MOLLE but doesn't have MOLLE straps for gear, then it's a good guess it's MOLLE brand.
One of the things that attracted me to the VooDoo bag was that it has 4 pockets on the side rather than the normal 2 or 3. Also VooDoo states the two long pockets are padded to hold a spotting scope and bipod. They are NOT padded at all. NONE of the exterior pockets are padded.
Speaking of things VooDoo claims but aren't true, they say the front end of the bag is reinforced. It's not reinforced any more than the rest of the bag.
The bag is made of a decent quality nylon (it's not 1000 denier DuPont Cordura nylon) time will tell of course. I am curious to see how the zippers and snaps hold up under use, they are not YKK zips and the snaps could be easily crushed and made useless.
There are plenty of MOLLE straps to add additional pouches to the bag. The bag also has a removable storage pouch that snaps into one side of the interior section to hold cleaning gear and it has ammo loops in it, though I would not recommend storing ammo in with your cleaning gear. Also there is a full length cleaning rod sleeve along the spine, but I'm wary about using it due to potentially bending the rod.
There is 3/8" thick foam padding used to protect your rifle in the sides and divider of the main bag. Yes you can put two rifles in the bag, which makes it overly heavy and awkward and I don't feel the 3/8" foam padding between them is adequate especially to protect the scopes. Again the four outer pockets have no padding on their sides or top, just what is under them in the sides of the main bag to protect the rifles.
The bag is supposed to also be able to hold two pistols. I'm guessing they are meant to go in the large square exterior pouch at the stock end of the bag, it has two tie down straps in it. Again it is not padded and the straps wouldn't hold the pistols securely at all, the pistols would just smack into each other repeatedly.
The shoulder strap is OK, the hooks it uses are sturdy and don't seem like they will ever bend out of shape, but the snap for them is a thin piece of spring steel that may break or get bent easily. The strap has one of those cheap stiff rubber sliders on it for your shoulder, no padding at all and from experience they tend to crack after a year or so of use.
The backpack straps appear good. However the attachment points for the straps are D rings, which will pinch the straps at the top and bottom. They should be rectangular, and heavier duty than what is there. The bottom of the backpack straps secure like the straps on the ALICE pack, a loop in the end of the strap to hitch around the D rings. The straps can be stowed in a pocket on the back of the bag which closes with Velcro, the bottom edge of Velcro on my bag was sewn badly and doesn't line up with the flap so only part of the flap is secured.
As I said before the bag is decent quality but I expected more for the $120 price, it does not do all it claims to do and is really an $80 bag at best, another reason for 2 rather than 3 stars.
What it does do, it does decently. For my needs the bag should hold up just fine going from home to the range and back. If I were going to be dragging this through the bush however I wouldn't be so sure and I would look into Eagle's (1st choice) or Blackhawk's bags.
