(More customer reviews)I've owned this bag for two years and have camped with it both in the Cascades and Appalachians. When initially evaluating the bag, I was excited to find a 20-degree bag in the 3-lb range, at an attractive pricepoint. My first night on Frosty Mountain in 34F temp made me regret that decision - I got about 1 hour of sleep after shivering the remainder of the evening. This was also in conjunction with a closed cell pad.On later trips, I started using REI's thermarest knockoff with a n R-value of 3, rather than closed-cell foam.Still, no improvement in comfort.
Basically, this is an okay bag down to 45F.Between 45F-40F, you'll need to definitely enclose the hood tightly around your face to minimize leakage (and you'll still be cold).I would not use this below 40F - EVER!You'll have a bad sleep and not enjoy the next day's hike.
One cool feature about the bag is the pull strings on the hood - there are two cords - one that cinches the top of the hood, and a different one for the bottom. The manufacturer wisely made each cord of different diameters to make it easier in the dark to "know" which one you need to cinch to enclose your hood.
When I purchased this bag, I was still new to backpacking.Since then, I've found far superior products at comparable pricepoints. If you are evaluating this bag, you are also probably new to backpacking and are trying to minimize the cost while you gear up.My advice is to spend money on a good bag - you won't regret it.
As for the SlumberJack....mine is getting replaced with a nice Western Mountaineering Kodiak.I will only use the Slumberjack as a backup bag for guests during summer months.

Product Description:
Double offset, differential cut construction eliminates cold spots. Flip Over Hood allows users to flip the hood inside out giving the option of a flat hood or a fully contoured hood. Easy Access Drawcords with Barrel Lock Closures permit closure of drawcords on hood and storm collar. The cords are either flat or round, allowing users to easily adjust storm collars and hoods in low light situations. Hook and Loop Closures provide firm closure of the bag and prevent zippers from separating or opening. Anti-Snag Zipper Protection is sewn along the draft tube and zipper to ensure reliable zipper operation. Internal Collars are baffles sewn to the liner, used to prevent heat loss from the neck and shoulders. Draft Tubes are baffles sewn adjacent to the zipper to keep cold air out and prevent heat loss through the zipper coils. Weather Wedge is a small piece of triangular fabric that is sewn at the base of the zipper to prevent heat loss at the zipper's bottom. This also reduces stress at the point where the zipper is sewn for greater durability. Vented Foot Box (patent pending) zips open to provide added room and thermo regulation for maximum comfort in a wide-range of temperatures and environments. Trapezoid Foot Box provides space in which the feet remain in a natural position for better comfort. Compression stuff sack included.
